Senior Economist | Policy Evaluation Specialist | Productivity Expert
Dr. K.P. Sunny is a senior economist with over three decades of distinguished service in the fields of productivity research, policy analysis, and evaluation of government schemes. He retired as Deputy Director General of the National Productivity Council (NPC), Government of India. Dr. Sunny holds a Ph.D. in Transport Economics from IIT Delhi, and an M.Phil in Applied Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). His expertise spans productivity measurement, competitiveness studies, monitoring and evaluation and infrastructure policy. He has led over 50 national-level consultancy assignments for ministries such as Commerce and Industry, Tourism, Textiles, Department of Justice, and Minority Affairs. Internationally, Dr. Sunny has served as India’s National Expert to the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), Japan, for the publication of APO Productivity Data Book, and as India’s partner for the World Competitiveness Yearbook published by IMD, Switzerland. He has also represented India in expert meetings and seminars across Asian nations. Currently, he serves as one of the Directors of AFPRO Foundation and Governing Body Member of AFPRO, contributing to sustainable development, agriculture, and rural livelihoods. Dr. Sunny is widely published and has served as the Editor of Productivity Journal of NPC for many years. His work is known for blending rigorous analytics with policy relevance.
